Pension payments from another country must be declared

Are you drawing a general pension from Sweden while receiving a pension from another country? It is important for us to have accurate details of all your pension payments so that you do not lose money or become liable to repay the money you have received.

Declare or change your pension from another country

You log in with your e-ID (swedish). Please check that the details we have about your pension payments from another country are correct. If they are not correct, or if you have other pensions that we have no information about, you must to declare this.

Useful information

  • You will find it useful to obtain recent payment statements, decisions or other documents from the authority or body that pays your pension before you start filling in your declaration. Contact the payer if you do not have any supporting documents.
  • You do not need to submit a declaration or contact us if the details we have are correct.
  • You must notify us if you have received a letter from the Swedish Pensions Agency about declaring a pension from another country and do not receive such payments. The easiest way to do this is to contact our customer service on 0771 776 776.

These are the details you need to provide

You must declare the following if you receive a pension from another country and we have not yet received details about these payments:

  • the country from which you receive your pension
  • your insurance number in the country from which you receive your pension
  • who pays your pension
  • what type of pension you are receiving
  • the currency in which your pension is paid
  • the relevant amount in the original currency, before tax and any other charges.

We will consider whether the new details will affect your current pension or any other benefit paid by us. You will receive a new decision if any of your benefits are affected.

A national basic pension

A national basic pension is a benefit paid to anyone who has little or no income-based pension.

The national basic pension is affected by pensions from other countries and may be recalculated when you declare a new amount. You may be paid too much national basic pension if you do not notify us of a change in the amount. You may have to pay money back to us if you receive too much.

Housing supplement and old-age income support

Housing supplement and old-age income support are supplements to the general pension and are calculated on the basis of your housing costs, income and any assets.

They are affected by pensions from other countries and may be recalculated when you declare a new amount. You may be paid too much housing supplement and old-age income support if you do not notify us of a change in the amount. You may have to pay money back to us if you receive too much.

Income pension supplement

The income pension supplement is paid as a supplement to the general pension.

Pensions from other countries affect the amount of the income pension supplement. That is why it is important for you to declare whether you are receiving a pension from another country, and the amount involved.
